FFXIV Dawntrail CPU, GPU, and iGPU performance comparison
Using the Dawntrail benchmark I compared a selection of PC hardware to see how it performs and how performance changed since Endwalker.
The tests were done on a test platform using Ryzen 5800X3D CPU with 2x8GB 3200CL16 RAM kit and using the latest drivers on Windows 11. Benchmark was run at 1080p resolution using high desktop presets. iGPU was also tested at standard laptop
preset. FSR and DLSS were used where applicable.
GPU comparison
All tests done on Ryzen 5800X3D CPU with 2x8GB 3200CL16 RAM and Windows 11:
Endwalker and Dawntrail benchmarks aren't directly comparable and the performance difference is only partially due to Dawntrail graphics update. Either way, Dawntrail benchmark does have a higher GPU resource usage than Endwalker as to be expected.
CPU comparison
All tests done using RX 6950 XT GPU and 2x8GB 3200CL16 RAM on Windows 11:
X3D AMD processors reign supreme in Dawntrail benchmark. I don't have the latest Intel and AMD CPUs to add to this comparison yet both will be good with X3D likely winning the charts.
iGPU comparison
- 7840U: GPD Win Max 2, 32GB dual channel 7500MT/s LPDDR5x, 24W cTDP.
- 12700H: Erying mini-ITX motherboard with Intel mobile CPU (Intel Xe graphics, 2x8GB 3200CL16 RAM)
Old Xe graphics (and likely Vega 8 in older AMD mobile processors and APUs) still manage to pull 30+ FPS on 1080p low standard laptop
preset. The newer Radeon 680M iGPU has around 10 FPS more. The latest Intel Meteor Lake Arc iGPU should have a similar performance.
Ryzen 7840U and similar SKUs are used in many gaming handhelds. The game should be playable on the go, given lower settings maybe other custom changes, and lower resolution.
