WoW Dragonflight GPU performance comparison
The tests were done on a test platform using Ryzen 5800X3D CPU with 2x8GB 3200CL16 RAM kit and using the latest drivers on Windows 11. Benchmark was run at 1080p resolution using mode 7 preset unless stated otherwise.
Warning: at the time of testing WoW has a problem with AMD RDNA 2/3 graphics cards which prevents them from running over the DX12 API.
Combat benchmark
The mass combat benchmark stresses mostly single core CPU performance but particle effects can also be a problem for weaker GPUs. You can lower the intensity of those effects to greatly increase performance in such cases, but you will see less fire you are standing in.
Graphics intensive zones
Ardenweald in widefield views is likely the most demanding zone to render. In comparison to player hubs tested below it does not have that much of a complex geometry.
Harbor view of the Atal'Dazar uses a longer draw distance to showcase a big and active city.
Legion Dalaran has quite complex geometry and lots of assets to load and render, especially when going around the city.
Old zones like Stonard camp aren't hard to run. Can be indicative of WoW Classic performance.
Valdrakken - player hub
The current player hub full of players puts CPU and GPU to the test. Weaker systems will see quite a lot of stutter in this city. Note: due to the randomness of players' activity this benchmark isn't comparable to each other. You can look at this as more of a range of FPS for a given GPU to expect - but it will still vary.
